COCOA, Fla. – October 13, 2026 – The Maine Department of Corrections has acquired additional KelTec KSG shotguns for implementation as less-lethal platforms within its corrections operations, continuing a relationship with the KSG platform that dates back to 2012.
For more than a decade, the Maine Department of Corrections has utilized the KSG platform within its operations. The department has now returned to KelTec to add new KSGs to its inventory, reinforcing the platform’s longstanding role within the correctional environment.
The KSG’s compact bullpup configuration and dual-tube design provide agencies with a modern shotgun platform in a compact package designed for maneuverability and versatility. Together with the streamlined KS7, the KSG family continues to generate interest among corrections, law enforcement, security and other professional users seeking to modernize traditional shotgun platforms.
“The fact that the Maine Department of Corrections has utilized the KSG platform since 2012 and has now come back for additional platforms means a great deal to us,” said Parker Rosenberger, Director of Business Development at KelTec. “The KSG and KS7 continue to prove to be fantastic options for less-lethal applications within corrections and prison systems, while also providing departments and agencies with a phenomenal opportunity to modernize the traditional shotgun platform.”
American-born and American-made, KelTec designs and manufactures the KSG family in the United States, giving professional customers domestic factory support, service and a direct relationship with the team behind the platform. That continued adoption reflects KelTec’s growing presence within the professional market and its commitment to supporting law enforcement, corrections, security and government organizations.
“For agencies looking to modernize their current setup, evaluate new capabilities or rethink the role of the shotgun within their operations, we want to be part of that conversation,” Rosenberger added. “We work closely with corrections facilities, patrol divisions and tactical teams to understand how the KSG and KS7 fit their protocols, training requirements and existing equipment, rather than expecting an agency to build everything around a new platform. And when an agency works with KelTec, they get direct access to our team, our leadership and the ownership family behind the company. Not many manufacturers our size can say that, and it is something we take seriously.”
KelTec continues to expand its professional product offerings and agency support programs for law enforcement, corrections, security and government customers.
