PLR16
Description
The Kel-Tec PLR-16 is a gas-operated, semi-automatic pistol engineered for long-range target shooting and hunting applications. Chambered in 5.56mm NATO, it combines rifle-grade performance with a compact pistol platform. The PLR-16 utilizes a conventional gas piston operating system and incorporates the proven M16-style rotating bolt locking system, ensuring reliable function and durability.
Designed with accuracy and adaptability in mind, the pistol features an adjustable rear sight for windage and an M16-style front sight for familiar sight alignment. An integrated MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail allows for easy mounting of optics and accessories, expanding its versatility for various shooting setups. The barrel is threaded 1/2x28 TPI, accommodating standard muzzle devices such as muzzle brakes.
To keep weight to a minimum without sacrificing strength, the PLR-16 is constructed primarily from high-impact, glass-fiber-reinforced polymer, with steel components used only where necessary—including the barrel, bolt, sights, and operating mechanism. The result is a lightweight, rugged, and innovative firearm that delivers impressive performance in a uniquely compact package.
Construction
Strength, impact resistant Zytel where it sheds pounds. Take it hunting, mountain climbing, camping, back country exploring or whatever you can throw at it. The PLR16 is light, but she can handle it.
Compact
In usual KelTec fashion, the PLR16 offers a lightweight, compact solution to a rifle caliber problem. Although it has a stout, smooth and reliable gas system, this pistol stows nicely in a pack and comes with a flush-fit 10 round lead dispenser. Or, you can run any AR-15 compatible magazines.
Modular
Although we do not recommend suppressing the PLR16, it features a 9″ barrel that is threaded 1/2×28 to accommodate your choice of compensator or flash hider. We also offer an optional compact forend, sling mount and arm brace adapter kit to set it up for your needs. Iron sights are provided, however there’s an integrated Picatinny-style rail for mounting your favorite optic.
